Best Places to Eat in The Laurentians : Culinary Heaven
The Laurentians are located just an hour drive north of Montreal. Despite it’s short distance from the city you’ll feel like you’ve entered your own little secluded paradise where you can truly get away from it all. I had the pleasure of visiting the Laurentians in the summer about a year ago (read more about that here), so I was definitely excited to see what the winter months have to offer. It was like being in a completely different place! Here you’ll find the best places to eat in The Laurentians
Stonehaven Manor

During my stay I got to call Stonehaven Manor my home for a few days. Built in 1908, Stonehaven Manor is located in Sainte-Agathe and was recently renovated into a country-style boutique hotel. It’s location next to Lac des Sables and with views of Mont Tremblant Mountain makes it the perfect place to call your refuge while enjoying all the beauty Quebec has to offer. They even offer complimentary cross-country skiing and snowshoeing for guests with the trails located around the property!

The food here though, makes Stonehaven Manor a destination in itself. Breakfast was my absolute favourite. You definitely need to try the French Toast and the Eggs Benny (trust me). Dinner is just as amazing with a complete gastric experience of local flavours and dishes. The nice thing too is that you can book culinary experiences with your room reservation in order to ensure you get the complete experience. I’d definitely love to come back to Stonehaven Manor in the summer to experience with breathtaking landscaped gardens, pool, and soon to be completed spa as well.

Serres Bertrand

A quick mention to this little gem, Serres Bertrand, which we stopped at on our way to our hotel Stonehaven. A cute little specialty shop, they stock all local Quebec products which makes the perfect place to pick up some edible souvenirs from your trip. They also serve up delicious sandwiches, salads, and sweets. They’re known for their tomato sandwich, which as unorthodox as that sounds, is actually crazy good.
Val-David – Best Places to Eat in The Laurentians, Quebec

Val-David is an adorable village located just a 15 minute drive East from Stonehaven Manor or around an hour drive from Montreal. Take a walk around the village where you’ll be treated to beautiful landscapes and plenty of public art.
Microwbrewery Le Baril Roulant

After walking around Val-David village we stopped into the Microbrewery Le Baril Roulant. Part microbrewery and part restaurant, all their beer is brewed on-site and only available right at the microbrewery because they believe it should be enjoyed at it’s freshest when just made and not after it had spent months being packaged, delivered, and sitting on the shelf. The same principle applies to their restaurant where everything is made using local Quebec ingredients. Definitely don’t miss out on their ginger beer, the duck confit poutine (which isn’t fried, and the secret of how it’s made remains a secret sadly), and for dessert the beer-a-misu (their take on tiramisu, but made with their in-house brew).
Parc régional Val-David-Val-Morin

Parc régional Val-David-Val-Morin is a beautiful site with over 60km of trails for snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and mountain climbing. I spent the afternoon showshoeing through the trails, and I have to say it was most fun I’ve had doing a winter activity! I was amazed at how well the snowshoes gripped and it made climbing up and down steep trails a breeze. And if you’re looking for those magical winter wonderland views, than Val-David has got you. Plus, it’s one of the few parks that allow dogs on their trails (as long as they’re on a leash), so your furry bff doesn’t have to miss out.
Café Bistro Mouton Noir

Located just at the base of Val-David, Café Mouton Noir is a great nice local spot to get coffee or some eats off their globally inspired menu. It was recommended by our snowshoe tour guide as the best coffee in Val-David and it did not disappoint. The spot also features artwork from local artists which are available for purchase and live performances every Friday evening. A great little place if you want to live like a local.
L’Épicurieux

L’Épicurieux is beautifully appointed restaurant with a tapas-style sharing menu that changes seasonally and focuses on local Quebec flavours. All the dishes are well-thought out, plated beautifully, and most importantly delicious.

Mont Tremblant Village – Best Places to Eat in The Laurentians, Quebec
Set directly inside the mountains Mont Tremblant village is a beautiful ski resort village that is internationally acclaimed for their skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and fat biking in the winter. A stroll amongst the colourful shops and restaurants will instantly make you feel like you’ve been transported into your very own whimsical little snow globe. Plus it’s got some of the best eats in the entire province!
Choux Gras Brasserie, Fairmont Mont Tremblant

Located inside the Fairmont Mont Tremblant is Choux Gras Brasserie, a contemporary French cuisine restaurant with beautiful art-deco style accents and plush velvet seating. Be sure to order the seafood tower with wine pairings for an evening your stomach won’t soon forget.
