The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon

The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon is not only one of the newest hotels in Asia it is also the Standard hotel’s flagship in Asia. It’s one of the best hotels to stay at if you’re looking for where to stay in Bangkok Thailand.
Located in one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok, the Mahanakhon, it’s located centrally in downtown with easy access to nightlife, restated trendy shopping Bangkok is famous for.
Given it’s location the decor definitely matches and the Standard Bangkok has even won an AHEAD award for best new build in Asia.
The vibe here is modern, trendy, with a touch of Wes Anderson. It’s definitely geared towards a younger crowd that is creative, artsy, and in-the-know.

Every space is carefully curated and designed, even the elevators!
There’s even a gorgeous rooftop pool with some of the best views in all of Bangkok.

The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon Restaurants & Bars
In addition to being a great place to stay The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon also has some of the best restaurants and bars in all of Bangkok.
Sky Beach Bangkok
Sky Beach is the highest rooftop bar in all of Bangkok.
With amazing 360 views of Bangkok it’s the absolute best place to enjoy the evening with some cocktails that are just as impressive as the views.

And don’t forget to check out the Sky Walk while you’re there. If you’re brave enough you can walk on a glass floor that lets you see Bangkok from right below your feet.

Tease – High Tea
Tease is the Standard Bangkok’s afternoon tea parlor. The space is playful woth a touch of whimsical Alice in Wonderland feels.
We had one of the most decadent high tea experiences here with bites that blended both Western and Eastern flavours and treats

The Standard Grill
The Standard Grill is modeled after a classic American Steakhouse. You can find both North American and Thai dishes here though. Be sure to check out their drink menu which features a table side made cocktail list where your drink will be expertly made with a beautiful bar cart that is wheeled right next to your seat so you can see all the action.
Mornings you can dine outdoors on the terrace with more Asian and North American choices to start your day. I especially like that every breakfast here also included a complimentary “shot” of their juice of the day.

Rongros
Rongros is a local restaurant that sits along the Chao Praya River and features an unobstructed view of the pagoda of Wat Arun temple.
Besides the beautiful views the food here is also authentic and absolutely delicious. It was even featured in the Michelin Guide for it’s curries and the glass noodle salad

Sala Rattanakosin
Sala Rattanakosin is a boutique hotel located in Old Bangkok City right by the Chao Praya River.
In addition to being a hotel there’s an incredible five star restaurant located on-site where you enjoy the views of Wat Arun temple while eating some Thai delicacies.

Phra Nakhon Restaurant at Capella Bangkok
Capella Bangkok is actually a luxury hotel with incredible views of the Chao Praya River.
Sadly I didn’t get to stay here but I did get to enjoy dinner at Capella’s Phra Nakhon restaurant. It was definitely experience you won’t want to miss.
We sat outside along the river and were treated to a mouth watering meal of traditional Thai dishes where the ingredients are sourced from local farmers and fisherman.

What to Do in Bangkok – Must Try Activities
Chao Praya River
Known as “The River of Kings”, and the main river of Thailand, a boat ride along the Chao Praya River is a must. They’ll be plenty of opportunities to see some of of Bangkok’s biggest attractions while enjoying your time on the river.

Wat Arun
Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is one of the most famous temples in Thailand.
Most people will recognize the famous pagoda which can be seen from a distance at many vantage points throughout Bangkok.
But let me tell you that seeing it up close is something else. Wat Arun has some of the most incredible architecture I’ve seen. It’s covered with over a million ceramic porcedishes and seashells and is incredibly ornate and detailed
You can even climb up about halfway where you’ll be rewarded with incredible views od the temple grounds as well as the Chao Praya River!

Pak Khlong Talad Flower & Night market
Bangkok is home to some incredible flower and night markets, a lot of which are actually open 24 hours
Pak Khlong Talad is the largest of the flower markets and the best time to visit is actually in the evening when the vendors receive their flower deliveries and the shops are full of every flora you could ever imagine in some of the brightest and most vibrant colors.
It’s really something to see the endless rows of florals and the flowers are sold at a staggeringly great value.

ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM is one of the largest shopping compexes in Asia and is also one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok.
One of the biggest attractions is the floating market which resides on the main level which is decked out with food vendors, crafts, and a “river” that runs through the center with boat displays that re-create the traditonal floating markets of the past.
It’s a great way to have this traditional market experience in a modern way.
There are 10 floors total here though and the remaining floors house some incredible shopping. Everything from local to international brands, luxury shopping, and the only Apple store in Thailand which takes up an entire floor and was voted the 4th most beautiful Apple store in the world
