So read on if you want to find the best restaurants in Niagara Falls Canada.

I’ll guide you through the best places explore AND eat in Niagara Falls. As someone who’s lucky enough to live only a 1.5 hour drive from this destination I can’t wait to explore more.

Best Restaurants in Niagara Falls Canada

Where to Eat – Best Restaurants in Niagara Falls Canada

Long gone are the days of only having chain restaurants as your only option at Niagara Falls. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good meal at the Keg, Morton’s, and thick stack of pancakes from IHOP, especially since these are the only place you can get a view of the falls at these places while you eat. Niagara has slowly built up their culinary prowess unbeknownst to visitors everywhere.

Here are the best restaurants in Niagara Falls Canada. The hidden gems that have recently taken Niagara’s culinary scene to the next level. I promise you that they will impress even the most discerning food-loving traveler.

AG Inspired Restaurant

AG Inspired is a true gem in Niagara Falls. The term “farm-to-table” has been thrown around for the past several years, but AG Inspired takes that term to heart with their very own farm and bee apiary. All their ingredients are grown on their farm located just a short 15 minutes away from the restaurant.

Because the ingredients are picked daily nothing ever needs to be refrigerated or frozen. Items can be ordered à la carte or you can choose a $75 three course tasting menu.

We went with the three course tasting menu with wine pairings suggested by their sommelier and everything paired perfectly together. Because ingredients are grown and picked the menu varies depending on what is in season. One thing is for sure though, you won’t want to miss out on this culinary jewel.

Table Rock House Restaurant

If you’re looking to dine by the falls then Table House Rock restaurant is as good as it gets. It’s the closest restaurant to the falls and with floor to ceiling windows you’ll not only feast on some amazing food, but also some amazing views.

As a certified Feast On Ontario restaurant Table House Rock restaurant is committed to sourcing ingredients from Ontario from local brewers, producers, growers, and distillers. I tried out the Canadian Prime Rib burger and I can tell you that you’ll definitely taste the local difference.

Massimo’s Italian Fallsview Restaurant

Massimo’s is owned by one of Canada’s most celebrated Italian chefs Massimo Capra. The menu here blends classic Italian dishes with modern takes and features ingredients and wines from the Niagara regions.

I highly recommend the three course dinner which includes an appetizer, pasta or main, and dessert.

Besides being voted as the best Italian restaurant in the region it also has the most beautiful views of the American Falls. If you come at night during dinner you’ll also get to see the illumination light show while you dine on some of the finest Italian cuisine! It’s easy to see why this spot is considered to be one of the best restaurants in Niagara Falls Canada.

Maple Leaf Place

Maple Leaf Place is one of the newest attractions in Niagara Falls and features the only indoor Maple Trail Maple Sugar Bush experience. You’ll get to sample maple taffy, fudge, artisan chocolates, and onsite bottling of maple syrup. Their market shop also features one of the largest collections of Canadian giftware as well as Indigenous art that is hand-carved by a master Indigenous carver.

My favorite experience from here was the maple syrup flight tasting. Three Ontario maple syrups in golden, amber, and dark are given as a flight where you can taste the subtle differences between the types of syrup. Served with a stack of mini pancakes and some berries as palette cleansers it is a unique Maple Sugar Bush experience that can’t be found anywhere else.

Maple Leaf Place is also one of the few places where you might be able to try Ontario maple syrup since majority of Canada’s maple syrup supply comes from Quebec. Trust me when I say you shouldn’t sleep on the Ontario dark maple syrup! I couldn’t resist bringing home a large bottle with me.

Finally finish off your visit here with some maple syrup ice cream. They use real maple syrup to flavor it, and not maple extract like most maple ice creams, so you’ll get that true maple flavor.

Ok, so this place isn’t exactly a restaurant, but the maple treats and experience here is so unique that it warrants a spot on the list of best restaurants in Niagara Falls Canada.

Queen Victoria Place Restaurant

Queen Victoria Place restaurant was built in the 1900s and has all a view of all three falls from their upper level patio balcony. The menu features casual comfort foods and as a member of the Feast On Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance it also makes use of local ingredients and beverages.

Pho Xyclo Restaurant

Pho Xyclo is a well loved local Vietnamese restaurant in Niagara Falls Canada. They serve authentic Vietnamese cuisine and best of all the prices are exceptionally reasonable! Definitely a much welcomed perk when you’re in one of the biggest tourist attractions in Canada where everything seems to be quadruple the price sometimes.

They have all the favourites like pho, fresh spring rolls, and even a vegetarian pho. You’ll also find plenty of curries, grilled meats, and rice based dishes. Plus the spice level can be adjusted according to your liking.

As an added bonus there’s a large parking lot out front and parking is free. Yes FREE, another thing that’s normally highly unheard of in such a touristy area.

Rizzo’s House of Parm

Rizzo's House of Parm
Rizzo’s House of Parm

Rizzo’s House of Parm serves up what I would describe as American Italian food. It’s also owned by famous Canadian Chef Matty Matheson. You may know him from his many popular restaurant endeavors or from his role on the critically acclaimed TV series The Bear.

I have to warn you though that this spot is technically located in Matty’s hometown of Fort Erie, which is about a 30 minute drive from Niagara Falls. Don’t worry parking is free here!

It’s worth the trip though as the food is great and the staff is friendly. It’s the kind of food that brings you comfort and leaves you happily stuffed. They don’t skim on the cheese or the portions here so you’ll definitely leave satisfied. They also have a kids menu if you have a couple of miniature people in tow with you.

Another tip is that it is HIGHLY recommended you book a reservation online beforehand. Because yes, it is THAT popular of a spot despite being a bit of a drive away from the main touris area of Niagara Falls. Reservations open online 6 weeks in advance so come prepared!

If your’e unprepared like I was then you can attempt to do a walk-in, which they do reserve a few seats for. But again, I warn you this place is popular so you best bet is to show up right at 4pm when they open. This is what I did and was luckily successful. Believe me though when I say the place was packed within 30 minutes.

RPM Bakehouse

RPM Bakehouse

RPM Bakehouse is more of a casual cafe/bakery/coffee shop. They are well known for their pastries, breads, and coffee, but they also have a savory menu for both breakfast and lunch. Ingredients here are locally sourced from the Niagara region and the menu does rotate depending on what is in season.

They also provide table service when ordering food items, but the atmosphere is definitely more casual than your standard restaurant.

It’s an exceptionally aesthetic spot and in terms of their savory food offerings they are well known for their chicken sandwich which is served on one of their in-house baked artisanal buns with goat cheese, tomato, pesto, and a side of greens. Or stop by for one of their breakfast sandwiches and espresso based coffees first thing in the morning to start your day right.

Don’t forget to finish off with one of their expertly made pastries as well. It’s the perfect way to finish off your meal or to treat yourself.

Another warning is that this spot is a 30 minute drive from the main Niagara Falls tourist area but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for something that truly features local ingredients and a high degree of culinary expertise. And yes, parking here is free as well which definitely makes the drive a little more palatable.

What to Do

Of course it’s pretty obvious that the falls are the main draw, but there’s plenty to do and see in Niagara Falls even beyond the main attraction. Here is just a sample of all the things you can do here both with and without the falls!

Fleurs de Villes

Niagara Parks Power Station

With its rich history and unique architecture the Niagara Parks Power Station harnessed the energy of Horseshoe Falls to generate electricity for over 100 years. A must visit spot for any history buffs and science lovers you’ll get an in-depth look at the history and the process of how the revived artifacts on display were able to generate electricity from the falls. Be sure to visit at night as well as there is an interactive immersive light show as you get to experience first hand what the plant feels like when it comes alive.

Floral Showhouse

Calling all plant lovers! The Floral Showhouse is the perfect place to take in some of the lushest greenery and floral displays. The displays change depending on what florals are currently in season and don’t forget to check out the miniature village behind the greenhouses. Miniature life-like representations of Ontario homes and a working model train will give you a quick and adorable overview of some of Ontario’s landmarks.

Journey Behind the Falls

Journey Behind the Falls, Niagara Falls Canada

Undoubtedly one of the most well known attractions is Journey Behind the Falls. You’ll get to explore 130 year old underground tunnels that lead you to various observation decks where you’ll see the falls up close 125ft below the surface. Be prepared to get a little bit damp, but it’s well worth it to come face to face with the falls.

Niagara SkyWheel

The Niagara SkyWheel is Canada’s largest observation wheel and is a great place to get a view of Niagara Falls from 175ft in the air. The ride lasts anywhere from 8-12 minutes. If you go during the evening you’ll get to see all the lights from Clifton Hill from high up.

Niagara Helicopters

For the most unforgettable tour and views book a flight with Niagara Helicopters Ltd. You’ll get a birds-eye view of Niagara Falls and pass by Rainbow Bridge, the Whirlpool area, Queen Victoria Park, the American Falls, Skylon Tower, and of course Horseshoe Falls. If you’re lucky you’ll even see rainbows created by the mist of the falls.

Niagara-on-the-Lake

Just a short 10-15 minute drive away is Niagara-on-the-Lake. Located in Ontario’s Wine Country, Niagara-on-the Lake is the largest wine producer in the regions. It’s the perfect opportunity to taste some of Ontario’s finest local VQA wines. There are plenty of local wineries and distilleries to visit here but some of my favorite are below.

Two Sisters Winery

Voted as Canada’s Best small winery, Two Sisters Winery is a local favorite and is family owned and operated. Take a tour of their winery, do a wine tasting, and don’t forget to stop off for a meal at their on-site Italian restaurant Kitchen 76.

The Hare Wine Co is Niagara’s newest winery. A family owned winery they specialize in small batch premium VQA wines and several varietals of ice wines. We booked a wine tasting which paired perfectly with the charcuterie board featuring local cheeses, meats, and fruits. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon sampling some of Ontario’s best small batch produced wines.

Where to Stay

If you’re able to stay at a hotel with a view it is 100% worth it! We were lucky enough to stay at the Niagara Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa, which is the closest hotel to the falls at only 100 yards away!

Allonsy Marriott Fallsview Fallsview Suite
Breakfast with a view in a Fallsview Suite at Marriott Fallsview Niagara Falls

We stayed in a Fallsview room which gives you unobstructed views of all three falls and the SkyWheel at Clifton Hill. I loved having my breakfast in my own private oasis looking over the falls and at night it was magical having a front row seat to the evening falls illumination show while in the comfort of my room. And if your hotel room still isn’t close enough to the falls for you you can take the Niagara Falls Incline Railway which is just outside the hotel and will take you directly next to the pedestrian walkway next to the falls in minutes.
