After an amazing trip to Disneyland (read more about that here if you’re interested) I decided to extend my stay to explore L.A for a few days. I think that most people have the impression that L.A is nothing but glamour, celebrities, and all things shiny. And while it definitely is all those things it can also be gritty and everything else in between as well. It truly is a city where you can find anything and everything no matter where on the spectrum you want to be sitting. I by no means hit up everything on my list, but I suppose that is an excuse to come back for a revisit. Here’s what I did get up to though while I was there in my own little LA travel guide.
LA Travel Guide

Where I Stayed – LA Travel Guide
There is no shortage of amazing hotels to choose from and I was lucky enough to be able to stay at three different locations. Each one was distinct in their own style and feel and depending on what you want your L.A experience to be like you’ll definitely find it at one of these places
The Ace Hotel

I’ve always been a huge fan of the The Ace Hotel family. Their spaces are always oozing with character and I love that their hotels always reside in buildings with history. The one in L.A is no different and being located in a historic theatre.

The Beverly Hills Hotel
If you’re looking for the iconic Hollywood glamour experience then look no further than the Beverly Hills Hotel. I was lucky enough to stay at this luxurious space for one evening and it is a must for anyone looking for what it truly means to be spoiled in this city.

The LINE Hotel

Minimalist and modern this place is absolute heaven for the creative freelancing millennial. The LINE hotel in L.A is absolutely famous for it’s floor to ceiling windows which will give you a breathtaking view of either the city or Hollywood Hills. They also have an Alfred’s coffee located in the lobby. So basically, you have no reason to leave. And you won’t want to either.

What to Do – LA Travel Guide

Get Cultured at LACMA
The largest art museum on the west coast of the United States it is the best place for you to take in historic art, international art, and basically any type of art you could possibly want to see. Don’t forget to snap a picture next to the famous light post art installation that sits out front as well.

The Getty Museum
Not to be outdone the Getty Museum is iconic in its own right. While they also have expansive art exhibits it is worth a visit just to admire the architecture and the views of the city.

The Last Bookstore
Probably the most famous independent bookstore in L.A it is known for their book tunnel and the round cutout amongst a stack of books. It really is a fun shop and who knows, you might even end up finding something good to read while you are here.

Venice Beach

Venice Beach has a funky vibe to it but it is great for people watching. There is also a skate park, basketball courts, and a long strip if you’re looking to get some souvenirs.
Santa Monica Pier

Featured in countless movies and tv shows it was nice to see this in person for the first time. I have to say it was a lot smaller than what I imagined it would be like but I still think it is a fun way to spend a relaxing day. There is always something that brings out the kid in me at an amusement park and the walk on the beach is everything you would expect from the sunshine state.
What to Eat – LA Travel Guide
Eggslut

Eggslut is a place that I have been dying to try ever since I saw it on Instagram years ago. Yea, I know it is no longer what’s super new but it was new to me so I was happy to finally try it. The eggs were just as fluffy in person as they look in pictures and I definitely think this is a must eat whenever you’re in L.A.
Openaire

Alfred Tea Room

Stumptown Coffee

One of my favourite coffee roasters is Stumptown, but we sadly do not get them in Toronto. That means whenever I’m in a city that does have them you had better believe I’m headed there first thing.
Verve Coffee

Tasty coffee and even more tasty treats available to go along with it. The beautiful plant wall on the patio is a huge plus as well.

Gratitude Kitchen and Bar

The place that proves that you don’t need to compromise taste for health. I’m not a vegan, but if you are this place will also be a staple in your L.A diet. Regardless of your eating lifestyle I can confirm it is delicious.

Your coffee date just got super cute with Coffee for Sasquatch. Don’t worry, the coffee here is good too. It’s not just about that cute face.
