Seminyak – City Life in Bali

The final leg of my trip in Bali was spent in Seminyak. Famous for it’s beach clubs, night life, shopping, and Australian style cafés Seminyak is a chance to experience urban life Bali.

Where to Stay

Villa Air Bali

I was lucky enough to stay in two different villas at Villa Air Bali. On the first night I stayed at their Garden Pool Villa. With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, outdoor seating area & kitchen, and pool it was the perfect oasis amidst the bustling urban life of Seminyak. It was honestly zen-like paradise.

On the second night however, I got to stay at their Grand Pool Villa, and let me tell you I have never stayed anywhere quite like this before. It was not only massive but completely luxurious through and through with 4 bedrooms, 4 ensuite bathrooms (each equipped with massage tables), a full sized modern kitchen, private outdoor pool and lounge area, living space, dining area for 12, garden, pond with water feature, and probably one of the most architecturally beautiful staircases I’ve ever laid eyes on.

The food here was also nothing short of DELICIOUS. They also offered up plenty of options from classic Indonesian dishes, North American comfort foods, and plenty of healthy options for those looking to maintain a more balanced lifestyle.

Be sure to book a floating breakfast as well. The floating breakfast also has 5 different cuisine styles to choose from – Indonesian, North American, Healthy, Japanese, and Breakfast Wrap style.  I’ve honestly never had so much fun eating my morning meal before and is just a testament to the creativity and excellence of the hospitality of the Balinese.

Besides the fact that this place has delicious food and is jaw-dropping beautiful what also makes it a prime pick as a place to stay is it’s location. It’s only a few minutes walk from some of the best shopping, beach clubs, and dining that Seminyak has to offer. They even offer complimentary shuttle service to some of the nearby beaches.

What to Do

Beach Clubs

There are no shortage of beach clubs in Seminyak and it is the perfect way to enjoy city life….and the beach of course. Enjoy the day eating some good food, having some tasty cocktails, and your choice of pool or sand & waves.

Potato Head Beach Club

Potato Head Beach Club came highly recommend by the staff at Villa Air Bali. Considered to be one of the best places in Seminyak to unwind it has 3 restaurants, an infinity pool, and some of the most beautiful sunset views in the city. It is also very easily recognizable by the exterior which is lined completely with window shutters with a mountain of flip flops anchoring one of the entrances.

What to Eat

Kynd Community

Kynd Community is a very pretty, very instagrammable, Australian style plant based café. Come here for the cute and tasty açai bowls, matcha almond milk lattes, and plant based Big Mac.

Tucked away in a little alley Revolver Coffee is a great place to stop for some coffee and tasty eats when you need a break from shopping at the cute shops that surround the area. Being owned by an Australian the coffee here is made using beans that are sourced globally from top producers and then roasted in Bali locally so you can expect a cup of perfectly brewed caffeine.

Ok, so as much as I love a beautiful instagram worthy café that offers almond milk for my lactose intolerance the fact of the matter is these Austrailian-esque hot spots aren’t exactly reflective of Indonesian cuisine. Luckily my Indonesian pal Viranlly tipped me off to some great local joints to check out, one of them being Babi Guling Karya Rebo. The food here was some of the tastiest I had while in Bali and it was nice to eat something that was authentically local and not just trendy (and not local…). I will admit that I did have this delivered to my villa using the Indonesian based Go-Jek app (where you can order everything from food, to taxi service, to makeup and hair stylists to come make you fabulous) as I was pressed for time and didn’t have a chance to make it out to the restaurant itself. However, the fact that you can have anything and everything delivered to you is a pretty kick ass Bali experience in itself and works out perfect for those times you’re too jet-lagged to make it out of the villa or just want to enjoy that luxurious private pool for a few extra hours.
