Annabelle Pasta Bar is located in Toronto’s Whychwood neighborhood on Davenport Road & Christie Street. From the same people behind Toronto’s Lil’ Baci, a longstanding favourite in the city, Annabelle Pasta bar is an extension of this Italian family.

The space is warm and intimate, upon entering you feel like you’re in the home of a friend. Split up between two floors the main level features an open kitchen where diners can see all the action from the high top seats, while the second level is an open dining space.

Everything here is served tapa style as shareable plates. We try out the Buratta, the Kale Salad served with acorn squash and goat cheese ($12), and the fried octopus($12). The octopus is perfectly crispy and the aioli dipping sauce and onion side served along with it make it addictive. I only wish we had ordered more of it.

In addition to snacks and sides there are three pasta dishes featured every night. Written on the chalkboard the only way to know what pastas are on the menu for the evening is to show up and see for yourself or call ahead. At $10 a piece they’re also meant for sharing so everyone gets a taste of everything on offer, but the portions are quite generous that one person could easily eat one for themselves along with a snack or side and be comfortably satisfied.

Lastly, don’t miss out on the Negroni cocktail bar which Annabelle Pasta Bar specializes in. At $12 a pop they offer everything from the classic negroni to fun twists infused with beet root, and rose hip & ginger. I tried out the  Orange Blossom infused with Dillons Gin, orange blossoms, guerra mojo, Campari, and orange bitters. With it’s perfectly citrus notes I suspect any of the options would make for the perfect evening or after work treat.

Annabelle Pasta Bar is a welcome addition to Toronto’s Wynchwood neighbourhood which can always use a new cute and tasty addition. Unfortunately there’s no dessert on the menu but in a city like Toronto there is no shortage of places to get your sweet tooth satisfied.
